A new date for the local government polls 2023 will be announced before March 09, said Election Commission chairman Nimal G. Punchihewa.
The announcement scheduled for yesterday (03) was postponed following a meeting of the commission.
It came after the Supreme Court issued an interim order to the finance ministry secretary against withholding funds to hold the election.
