SLPP MP S.B. Dissanayake told parliament today (22) that he was happy with president Ranil Wickremesinghe’s programme, as the economy could be reshaped within 12 or 18 months.
The country suffered ruination due to its fear of investors, he said, adding that the port city should be made an asset for the country.
Elections are required, but the people’s hunger should be satisfied first, he said, adding however, that he was certain of victory in his electorate.
All should share their suffering despite the unbearable taxes being imposed, said Dissanayake.
President orders deployment of armed forces
Meanwhile, deputy speaker Ajith Rajapaksa informed the House that the President has issued an order under clause 12 of the Public Security Ordinance for the deployment of armed forces to ensure national security.
