A Tamil journalist has been remembered 14 years after he died, while on duty, in an artillery attack by the Army in Mullaitivu.

Punyamurthi Sathyamurthy was injured when Thevipuram village was shelled on February 11, 2009, and the 37-year-old died on the following day due to excessive bleeding and non-availability of medicines to treat him.

Army shelling on that day reportedly killed 138 people while more than 350 were wounded.

Satyamurthy was remembered by the Mullaitivu Media Club on February 12.
