The Ministry of Power and Energy is yet to plan the QR code system for fuel to facilitate holding the local government polls despite a request being made a month ago, the Election Commission said.

The commission has sent a report to the ministry detailing the vehicles and the fuel required for election duty, at a maximum of 100 litres per vehicle.

Executive director of local election monitor PAFFREL Rohana Hettiarachchi noted that state officials had a responsibility to support election activities.

Meanwhile, MP V. Radhakrishnan has asked the government to find money to hold the LG polls by suspending the payment of MPs’ salaries for two months.

He accused the government of sabotaging the election by not providing the funds required.
