The Presidential Secretariat has sent out an invitation to professionals for a discussion on new taxes, said GMOA media spokesman Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe.
It follows a written request made by a collective of professionals for an opportunity to discuss the revisions.
Wijesinghe said they would take a decision this week with regard to their measures against the new taxes, with a meeting of the GMOA called for tomorrow.

There is criticism within government ranks against the amendments to the tax regime, with UNP senior and former finance minister Ravi Karunanayake calling for an abolition of the PAYE tax.
Speaking to the media recently, he questioned this particular tax being imposed with the knowledge that a projected Rs. 100 income in 2023 cannot be met.
The country should have the strength to reject an outsider’s call for a tax, said Karunanayake.
He urged the government to reconsider PAYE, calling it impractical.
