Sumedha Arunashantha of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has been elected mayor of Kurunegala.
At a vote today (02), Arunashantha received 10 votes, as against his rival, SLPP’s Wijayananda Wedisinghe’s six votes.
An English teacher by profession, Arunashantha (52) will be the 17th mayor of the Kurunegala municipal council.
