The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) should be brought to the ‘zero’ at the local government polls to put an end to family-rule in politics, said the leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF) Wimal Weerawansa.

Also, people should not experiment with persons previously not given a testing, he told an event in Colombo yesterday (27) to kick start campaigning by the Freedom People’s Alliance (FPA).

The country’s worst-ever economic crisis has now taken the shape of a political calamity.

The good governance regime laid its foundation by obtaining USD 16 billion of commercial loans, he claimed.

Sajith Premadasa is incapable of taking the country out of this mess, said Weerawansa, who claimed the FPA has a group with a deep intent to rebuild the country.

The Grand Oriental Hotel hosted the event by the alliance of 35 MPs that contests the LG polls under the ‘helicopter’ symbol.

It saw the launch of the FPA’s election slogan ‘Let’s be free’ and its official facebook handles.
