Journalists in Mullaitivu yesterday (24) marked ‘black January’ to highlight crimes committed against their colleagues in Sri Lanka.
Members of the Mullaitivu Press Club paid floral tributes to the photographs of slain journalists Lasantha Wickrematunga and Subramaniyam Sugirdharajan and missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.
Similar remembrances took place in Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Colombo.
Sugirdharajan was remembered on his 17th death anniversary.
Leaflet distributions to raise public awareness too, took place in Colombo and in the northern province.
The events were organized by the Free Media Movement and other media clubs.
