None of those who said coal could be purchased at low prices have so far made an appearance at the Power Ministry, said its secretary Mapa Pathirana.
He said a Russian supplier has been selected by a 2022 tender to acquire coal for the Norochcholai power plant.
The supplier has agreed to receive payment six months after making the supplies, said Pathirana.
At present, purchases are made as per a 2021 tender, he added.
