China has freighted the first batch of more than three million metres of school uniform material for Sri Lanka.
The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said the material worth Rs. five billion will be a gift to millions of students to meet 70 per cent of the whole country's requirement in 2023.
The shipment is due to arrive at the Colombo Port on January 06.
The first batch consists of 3,012,596.5 metres of finished cloth consisting of 38,000 packs.
