As many as 38 air traffic controllers had left Sri Lanka in recent times due to financial difficulties, reports lankadeepa.lk.

Quoting aviation services ministry sources, the website said they have joined foreign civil aviation agencies that offer higher salaries and benefits.

Subject minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said this is common in every field in the island.

He said 25 have been recruited as air traffic controllers to fill the void.
