Twelve students of the Peradeniya University have been suspended over the attack on their former vice chancellor Prof. Athula Senaratne.
Deputy VC Prof. Terrance Madhujith said they are conducting investigations on the basis of CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts of officers.
He said more suspensions would follow.
According to him, psychiatric treatment and other measures will be introduced for the undergraduates who are under mental stress.
Prof. Madhujith said they strongly condemned the assault on the former VC, his son and the official residence.
