Estate workers are planning an indefinite strike to protest against noncompliance by their employers to an agreement to grant them a festival advance of Rs. 15,000 for Deepavali.
Workers of three estates owned by Agarapathana Plantations staged a protest for more than two hours on October 20 asking the payment approved by the Employers’ Federation be not curtailed.
They have been told that only between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000 could be paid for Deepavali.
