A coal shipment will arrive on October 24 with the full payment already made to the contractual supplier, said Lanka Coal Company’s general manager Namal Hewage.
Presently, coal stocks are available for 30 days of operations at the Norochcholai power plant.
Hewage said advance payments have also been made for four more shipments to be imported from Swiss Singapore by December for the power plant’s smooth functioning.
A tender called to select a new supplier closes on October 25.
