President Ranil Wickremesinghe has denied an allegation that he met former Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran for lunch in Singapore recently.
SJB MP S.M Marikkar yesterday (04) alleged their meeting took place as the president was returning from a visit to Japan.
Mahendran has been accused over the Central Bank treasury bond scam.
Denying that such a meeting took place, the president said he had breakfast with Singapore’s interior minister and lunched on the Singapore Airlines flight.
“If you want I will bring the menu to show what I had that day,” he said.
The President also said MP Marikkar appeared to be walking the same path taken by ex-MP Hirunika Premachandra over anti-government protests.
Responding, Marikkar said he would never follow in the footsteps of Premachandra.
