The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has objected to a suggestion that a swearing-in of new cabinet ministers should take place on two different occasions.

‘Deshaya’ newspaper reports the president has taken reservations to two of the 11 SLPP’s ministerial nominees taking their oaths with the others.

According to government sources, they are Johnston Fernando and Rohitha Abeygunawardena, who are vehemently opposed by society.

In view of this opposition, they could take oaths on a later day, the president has suggested, but has not been accepted favourably by the party.

Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa has informed the SLPP that he would not accept any portfolio for the time being.
