Namal Rajapaksa has declined to accept a ministerial portfolio for the present, saying that he is already occupied with the SLPP’s national organiser responsibilities on a temporary basis.
He has met president Ranil Wickremesinghe and told him so, according to government sources.
The SLPP’s regular national organiser Basil Rajapaksa is presently overseas.
With 12 additions expected to the cabinet in the coming week, the party has already sent a list of selectees to the president.
They include Johnston Fernando, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, C.B. Ratnayake, Pavitra Wanniarachchi, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Sarath Weerasekara, S.M. Chandrasena and Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
From other parties, Vajira Abeywardena, Jeevan Thondaman, Asanga Nawaratne and A.L.M. Athaulla are tipped to become ministers.
