A woman from Vavuniya says her sole dream is to see the faces of her two missing sons before her death.

Annalakshmi is one of the mothers engaged in a fasting for more than 2,000 days now to demand to know the fate of those who have disappeared.

Speaking to BBC Sinhala Service, she said international mediation is needed since successive rulers continued to deceive the relatives of missing persons.

Secretary of the association of parents of the missing Rajkumar said around 120 women had died during the fasting.

Today (30) marks the international day for victims of enforced disappearances.

According to Amnesty International, Sri Lanka has the world’s second highest cases of enforced disappearances.
