Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today said that he will stop extending support to the government to resolve the crisis if protesters at Galle Face are attacked under the pretext of a 'state of emergency'.

The former PM made this statement at the Party Leaders' meeting held today (09) under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

He also pointed out that the President should have informed the Party Leaders before declaring a state of emergency.

The former Prime Minister stressed that the peaceful protests including the one at "GotaGoGama" should not be disrupted unless they have clearly violated the law.

Wickremesinghe also reiterated his support to the two no-confidence motions presented by the opposition.
