A school girl of the Dhammissara National School of Naththandiya has succumbed to Covid-19 today (30).
The deceased was a grade 6 student hailing from the Thabbowa area in Naththandiya.
A relative of the deceased said that she had fallen ill while returning home from school on January 28 and had succumbed to Covid-19 while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Marawila Hospital.
Covid death toll continues to rise
Sri Lanka Sunday reported 20 deaths due to COVID-19 after the figures were confirmed by the Director General of Health Services on Saturday, January 29.
Among the deaths reported today, 13 are of males and 07 of females.
While 12 deaths are of elderly people in the 60 years and above age group, 05 people in the 30-59 years age group and 03 people below 30 years of age have also succumbed to the disease.
According to the data reported by the Government Information Department, the total deaths due to Covid-19 since the pandemic began last year has now risen to 15,420.
