Health trade unions in the country say that the disruption of the work of the new PCR laboratory at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) was carried out deliberately to appease the quarantine hotel mafia in the country.
They warned that a new wave of Covid-19 could surface due to the halting of PCR testing at airports.
“It appears that we are going to stop PCR tests and forcibly bring in a new wave around January next year,” Chairman of the Academy of Health Professionals Ravi Kumudesh said.
He noted that the sudden decision to halt PCR testing once a stop has been put on the quarantine hotel mafia is a cause for suspicion, adding that this could allow dangerous variants to reach our country, totally destroying the hard earned control we have achieved so far with major sacrifices from all the sections of our society.
