UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said that it is the need of the hour to continue the 'Freedom Hub' programme introduced by the late Mangala Samaraweera in order to take the current youth of this country towards a different direction politically, economically, socially and culturally through ideology and practice.

He also noted that he hopes to talk to the youth involved in the 'Freedom Hub' programme to take the initiative forward.

The UNP leader recalled that Mangala, who had stepped-down from parliamentary politics, had a lengthy exchange of views with him before presenting the 'True Patriot' ideology as well as the 'Radical Centre' or the middle path which is based on the principles of democracy, freedom, equality and justice as the four pillared foundation for a just, caring and prosperous society.

Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made these remarks while participating in the Ada Derana's 360 programme yesterday (27).

Before presenting the idea of the 'Radical Center' for the purpose of building a better country through the ideology of 'true patriots' (#TRUEPATRIOTLK), Mangala Samaraweera had several rounds of discussions with Victor Ivan, a veteran political analyst and senior journalist, and his 'Punarudaya' organisation.

Summarizing the issues that arose from those conversations, Victor Ivan recently published #MangalasProposals - an agenda for transformation.
