The Cabinet of Ministers will make a final decision regarding the price revision of a few essential commodities.

Accordingly, the Trade Ministry is scheduled to submit a report to the Cabinet today (27) to take a final decision on the proposals made by the Cabinet Sub Committee on Cost of Living to revise the prices of milk powder, gas, cement, wheat flour and rice.

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had agreed to a price revision after having discussions with importing companies who requested the government to increase the prices of certain commodities

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Sub Committee on Cost of Living met last Friday (24) under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss these proposals.

Accordingly, it has been proposed to increase the price of gas by Rs. 550, milk powder by Rs. 200, cement by Rs. 50 and wheat flour by Rs. 10.

In addition, it has been proposed to increase the controlled price of Kiri Samba from Rs. 120 to Rs. 140 and the controlled price of Samba from Rs. 103 to Rs. 120.
