Sri Lanka is set to receive Covid-19 vaccines after former speaker and the chairman of the National Movement for Social Justice (NMSJ), Karu Jayasuriya appealed to the international community to provide Sri Lanka with vaccines.

Considering the current situation in the country where the vaccination drive has been hampered due to the government's inability to secure enough vaccines, Jayasuriya has intervened to secure much needed vaccines by requesting Switzerland, Germany and France to donate their surplus vaccines to the Sri Lanka people.

It is reported that the ambassadors of the respective countries have assured the former speaker of providing Covid-19 vaccines as soon as possible through the United Nations 'COVAX' facility.

According to reports, Germany is set to donate around 600,000 doses while Switzerland and France are also expected to donate a large consignment of vaccines.
