The Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation has requested the general public to support the conservation efforts of the Crudia zeylanica plant.
 
Crudia zeylanica, which is also known as Sri Lankan legume, is a species of legume in the family 'Fabaceae' endemic to Sri Lanka.


The plant was discovered and classified as a new species in 1868. It was last spotted in 1911 and was declared extinct in 2012.

The Wildlife Ministry has called on the public to provide information on the plant from all corners of the island after several plants were discovered from Gampaha recently.
