Results of the presidential election 2024 could be issued by this afternoon (22), said commissioner general of elections Saman Sri Ratnayake.
In the event no candidate secures 50 per cent plus one vote of the votes, second preferences will have to be counted, he said.
Officials are ready to do that.

Meanwhile, former BASL president Saliya Pieris says that although the final result is yet to be declared, it is now clear that Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be the next president.
Pieris says so in a post on Facebook.
