Excavations at a gravesite at Colombo Port have come to a temporary halt with skeletal remains of two persons already unearthed.
When work stopped on 05 September, at least four skulls surfaced at the site near the old secretariat at the port.
Investigators said excavations would resume on 25 September.
Skeletal remains found so far are being kept at the Colombo JMO’s office.
JMO Sunil Hewage and archaeologist Raj Somadeva are leading the investigations.
The site was found on 13 July during work on the expressway leading to the port presently under construction.
Excavations started on 05 September.
