Police have seized a newly-installed plaque from a memorial for the war-dead in Batticaloa.
The monument at Panichchaiadi Junction at Saturukondan is dedicated to the memory of 184 Tamils killed by the Army on 09 September 1990.
At the 34th remembrance, relatives installed the plague to say they haven’t forgotten the murder victims.
Arriving there, officers from Kokuvil police took away the plaque and seven people, who were released after obtaining statements.
