The Election Commission has reprimanded presidential candidate Pemasiri Manage, after he was seen attending and making speeches at SJB meetings in Matara and Tangalle.
He has been told not to engage in such activities in the future, said a commission official.
A candidate attending a function of another candidate is not an offence under election laws, but he could be taken to court for having violated ethics, said the official.
When contacted, Manage has told lankadeepa.lk that he did so after considering requests by the public and to pass them a message.
Manage was a JVP MP under the UPFA during 2004-2010.
