Sri Lanka and China share a long-standing bilateral friendship that has run for many centuries, which is now extended for economic, social, political, and business activities.
Moreover, we observe the two countries have distinct, common, and unique cultural activities that result in deep bonds between the peoples of our nations.
Such cultural activities have been exchanged amongst people of the two countries that have strengthened our friendships further.
The latest addition to the event calendar, the "Tea Cultural Exhibition" will undoubtedly contribute to augment our friendship.
With a long history of tea plantation, tea drinking, and tea serving in China, tea is blended into their culture while Sri Lanka too has many cultural tie-ups revolving around tea which would be showcased at the Tea Cultural Exhibition for the visitors' experience.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China together with the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka and organized by the China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka under the guidance of China International Cultural Association along with the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Colombo has also signed on as co-organisers while the Bank of China will provide the conceptual contributions to the event.
“Yaji Tea Cultural Salon” is affirmed as a world heritage by UNESCO for its cultural value to the world and for the first time in Sri Lanka this exhibition will be held from May 19-20 between 10 am to 7 pm at the China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, No 05, Independence Ave, Colombo 7, with free entrance to the public.
The visitors will experience a large collection of tea from two countries, artifacts, documentaries, and photographs related to tea culture while tasting exquisite flavors of teas, and would be an ideal opportunity for all the tea & cultural enthusiasts to witness.
