Dharmasiri Bandaranayake will be felicitated on December 21 in recognition of his more than 50 years of service to Sinhala cinema and stage dramas.
The felicitation takes place at Tharangani Hall of State Film Corporation in Colombo.
Vice dean of biology at the UK’s Manchester University Prof. Mahesh Nirmalan will be the chief invitee.
Prof. Jayadeva Uyangoda and Prof. S. Maunaguru will deliver keynote lectures.
Bandaranayake’s film ‘Thunweni Yamaya’ will be screened on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Bandaranayake will be honoured with a doctorate at the convocation of the University of Ruhuna tomorrow (16).
In April this year, he received an honorary medal from Manchester University for his contributions to ethnic harmony through his films.
